Cinema in the Cemetery

Organized by the Friends of Laurel Hill, experience movie magic amongst the tombs at this outdoor film series co-presented every summer with the Philadelphia Film Society. Pre-screening festivities are themed around the films and include pop-up markets with local artists, food and beverage vendors, creative activities and more.

David Lynch’s first feature, Eraserhead (1977), is a surrealist black-and-white horror film set against the backdrop of a stark and corrupt industrial cityscape. Lynch has attributed inspiration for the setting to his time as a student in 1960s Philadelphia.

Pre-screening festivities are themed around the film and start at 7:00 PM, including a market with local artists, food and beverage vendors, flower crown-making and other activities.

The film screening starts at 8:30 PM.

Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn seek immortality in this 1992 dark satire. When wealthy Los Angeles socialite Isabella Rossellini offers them an elixir, grotesque consequences spiral out.

Pre-screening festivities are themed around the film and start at 7:00 PM. The film screening starts at 8:30 PM.
