Famed portraitist Thomas Eakins is not at Laurel Hill, but dozens of his friends and students are, including sixteen at Laurel Hill West. Charles Hennig was the Philadelphia Orchestra’s first major cello soloist. Beatrice Fenton was a student who turned out to be one of Philadelphia’s best sculptors. Henry “Slick” Schlichter was a pioneer in African American baseball years before there was a Negro League. Lots of stories and pictures, with a bonus segment on Jesse Godley’s butt and Jacqueline Kennedy.
