Nurture with Nature: Hopeful Hapa Zome

Working with the healing power of plants can help to decrease stress and anxiety, process grief, and improve overall well-being. Combining eco-mindfulness and creative activities, the workshops in the Nurture with Nature series invite participants to learn about the uses and roles of specific native plants through the lens of natural cycles.

Our June workshop focuses on setting intentions for the summer solstice while engaging in Hapa Zome, a Japanese term for thoughtfully engraining natural patterns into fabric using plant materials. You’ll journey through Laurel Hill’s green burial gardens, learning about the native plants in bloom and harvesting specific selections of colorful plant and flower materials that resonate with your intentions for your Hapa Zome creation. Using therapeutic patting techniques that allow for the release of tension, grief, and negative energies, we’ll create vibrant patterns and prints that you’ll be able to take home with you.
