All are welcome to drop into Laurel Hill’s monthly book club discussions.

In August we’ll meet at Laurel Hill West to discuss The River of Consciousness. Scientist and storyteller Oliver Sacks is beloved by readers for the extraordinary neurological case histories in which he introduced and explored many now familiar disorders–autism, Tourette’s syndrome, face blindness, savant syndrome.

He was also a memoirist who wrote with honesty and humor about the remarkable and strange encounters and experiences that shaped him. One of two books Sacks was working on up to his death in 2015, The River of Consciousness is a collection of essays exploring what makes us human, drawing unexpected connections between evolution, creativity, memory, and time.
