Take Me to the River
High above the Schuylkill’s waters, the River Section was founded in 1880 to be convenient to the Reading Railroad’s Pencoyd Station. In this section are a Tennis Hall of Fame member, the creator of Mother’s Day, a charlatan who claimed to invent a perpetual motion machine, a man who literally changed two sports, and many others.
This tour remains on paved paths at all times and is accessible for limited mobility guests.
Generously sponsored by Carol R. Yaster and William J. Levant, Esq.
This event is being hosted in coordination with Love Your Park Week, a citywide celebration of Philadelphia’s parks and public spaces. Learn more at loveyourpark.org/events/lyp-week-2026
