Cremation is now more popular than burial, and this tour spotlights Laurel Hill West’s columbaria (buildings and structures that hold cremation urns). This site is the final resting place for many notable Philadelphians, including Joseph Beam (author and activist), Lon Jourdet (Penn basketball coach and “zone defense” pioneer), Elizabeth Snellenberger (Lacrosse Hall of Fame inductee), and other figures from politics, and entertainment. There’s even a Great War Austrian cavalryman!

  • The Chapel of Peace’s driveway is the immediate left as soon as you enter the main gates from Belmont Ave.
• Free parking is available at the Chapel of Peace and behind the Funeral Home.
