Echoes of the Titanic- Presented by Lynnewood Hall & Laurel Hill
Join us for the Echoes of the Titanic Experience
Echoes of the Titanic, a first-of-its-kind collaborative program presented by Lynnewood Hall and Laurel Hill Cemetery, unites two historic institutions each with unique links to the Titanic, its voyage, and each other.
The program, showcasing the Titanic’s enduring legacy through scholarship, place, and remembrance, begins at Lynnewood Hall on Friday, April 10, with an evening lecture by Craig Sopin, one of the foremost Titanic experts in the United States. Drawing from decades of research, collecting, and consultation with museums and media, Sopin will examine the Titanic’s history, material culture, and the human stories that continue to resonate more than a century later.
Sopin will be joined by Edward Thome, Executive Director of the Lynnewood Hall Preservation Foundation and Nancy Goldenberg, President & CEO of Laurel Hill, who will moderate a Q&A session and explore the significance of the Titanic from both a global and deeply local perspective, including Philadelphia’s direct connections to passengers and survivors.
The evening at Lynnewood Hall includes a reception and exclusive access to the historic house and curated interpretive elements designed to complement the program.
The experience continues with a guided tour at Laurel Hill, offered on April 11th and again on April 18th, where participants will visit the gravesites of Titanic passengers laid to rest in this remarkable. The tour deepens the program’s themes of memory and legacy, grounding the Titanic story in personal histories and sacred spaces.
Capacity for the lecture and tour is limited. Tickets for the lecture and tour are offered in combination or may be purchased separately. Please note the tour component begins at Laurel Hill East and continues at Laurel Hill West. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation between sites. Directions will be provided.
