Boneyard Bookworms: January Discussion

All are welcome to join Laurel Hill’s book club which reads and discusses a wide range of genres and topics, from historical nonfiction to contemporary novels, from science and medicine to memoir and humor.

We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Joe Lex, the author and one of our fabulous tour guides, to lead the discussion of his newly released book, “All Bones Considered: 52 Laurel Hill Women.”

Meet 52 trailblazing women who shaped history – and are buried at Laurel Hill Cemeteries. From America’s first prima ballerina to the founder of Mother’s Day, the first Black woman to earn a PhD in economics, and a woman who started her own religion – this book brings their stories to life and features illustrations by Chris Wilhelm.

If pressed for time, Dr. Lex recommends reading these 5 chapters:
Chapter 13: Marion Stokes
Chapter 26: Glenna Collett Vare
Chapter 31: Helen Thompson Woolley, PhD
Chapter 42: Irena Koprowska, MD
Chapter 51: Princess Olga

Laurel Hill is thrilled to be the exclusive first seller of Dr. Lex’s most recent book! Buy your copy today online or in person at the Gift Shop located in the Gatehouse at Laurel Hill East (3822 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19132).
