Laurel Hill East

Edgar Allan Poe spent his most productive years in Philadelphia, and many have speculated that his tales may have been inspired by the graves and gardens of Laurel Hill. Newly opened when Poe took up residence in the city, the growing necropolis would draw more than 150,000 visitors in one season alone… surely, Poe could well have been among those curious souls? Unfortunately, we cannot confirm or deny a visit from one of America’s most famous authors, but this tour will explore the graves of some of Poe’s friends, associates, and foes from our city.
